Paul Cezanne (1839-1906) is a vintage art book written by Theodore Rousseau, Jr.. This is the first edition published in 1953 by Harry N. Abrams, Inc.. The book is part of a popular edition called The Pocket Library of Great Art. Theodore Rousseau, Jr. at that time was curator of painting at the famous museum The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. This pocket edition was created as a pictorial and biographical guide to the life and work of the famous French painter Paul Cézanne. Today, Cézanne is considered the father of modern art. The book contains a short biography and a text overview of Cézanne's style written by Rousseau himself, more than 50 reproductions of the artist's works, thirty pages with color illustrations, while the drawings are presented in black and white. It also contains depictions of his most famous portraits, still lifes and landscapes from Provence. This book is still popular today among collectors and art lovers looking for older, retro editions on the history of painting. Unpaginated.
