Major Frederick Myatt M.C. was a retired British officer of the Royal Berkshire Regiment into which he was commissioned in 1940. He served on active duty with the British Army from 1940 - 1969. During World War II he was seconded (i.e. temporarily assigned) to the Royal West African Frontier Force. He was awarded the Military Cross while serving in Burma with the Frontier Force. Upon his retirement from the army, he took up the position of Curator of the Weapons Museum and Librarian at the School of Infantry, Warminster, Wiltshire. He was a prolific writer and contributed to such well known journals as The American Rifleman and British Army Review. He wrote numerous military history books as well as books focusing on weaponry and equipment of historical and modern armies.
