Sonia Wild Bićanić, (Kenley, Surrey, Great Britain, 3 January 1920 – Zagreb, 1 December 2017). She spent her childhood and adolescence, including the time of World War II (in London). After marrying politician Rudolf Bićanić, she came to Croatia, graduated in English and Yugoslav literature in 1952 from the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb. Received a doctorate in English literature from Oxford in 1959. From 1953 to 1991, employed at the Department of English Studies at the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb. This book is a testimony of a personal view of the closer history of these two countries, but also an attempt to find bridges of understanding between the two cultures - British and Croatian. The book has been published separately in Croatian and separately in English.
